Throughout the year, Third Street presents more than 250 free concerts by students, faculty and guest artists. Highlights include the Holiday Concert, the Stowe C. Phelps Annual Student Concert and String ’Stravaganzas, to name a few.

All-School Music Hour

All School Music Hours provide a nurturing environment for students to try out new pieces, hone their current repertoire and prepare for upcoming performances.

Piano Studio Showcase

Join Third Street students and Beth Levin, an internationally acclaimed pianist in a free Master Class.  A Master Class is a lesson, with observers, given by an expert on a particular instrument and/or musical style. All observers, regardless of their instrument, can benefit from listening to a Master Class. Topics discussed include areas of overall musicianship.

Master Class: Judith Mendenhall, flute

Join Third Street students and Judith Mendenhall, principal flutist of the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra, in a free Master Class.  A Master Class is a lesson, with observers, given by an expert on a particular instrument and/or musical style. Master Class: Billy Bustamante, voice

Join Third Street students and Billy Bustamante, a NYC-based Performer, Director/Choreographer and Photographer, in a free voice Master Class.  A Master Class is a lesson, with observers, given by an expert on a particular instrument and/or musical style. Large Ensembles Concert @ Symphony Space

Third Street’s advanced large ensembles take the stage at Symphony Space, one of New York's premiere concert venues located on the Upper West Side. The concert will feature NYC Symphonic Band, Sinfonia Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, and New Horizons Adult Band.

Musical Theatre Performance

Presenting Third Street’s students in an interdisciplinary group setting, this Musical Theatre performance showcases renditions of a broad range of Broadway repertoire!

All-Orchestras Concert

Saturday, May 18 | 10:30 am | St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery

All four of Third Street orchestras - Overture, Con Spirito, Sinfonia, and Philharmonia will perform the music they learned during the second half of the school year.

Stowe C. Phelps Annual Concert

This once-a-year concert highlights artistic excellence and musical achievement among Third Street’s most advanced students. Music will represent a diverse cross-section of Third Street programs and will feature the highest achieving students.

String 'Stravaganza

Saturday, June 8 | 10:00 am | St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery

Third Street string students take the stage at historic St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery to showcase pieces they have learned in class during the second semester. The concert culminates with a grand finale of all 100+ students performing together.

Composition Recital

Sunday, June 9 | 3:00 pm | Anna-Maria Kellen Concert Hall

Join the second rotation of Third Street’s composition class as students premiere their original pieces. These aspiring young composers will have their work performed by professional artists during this exciting evening of originality and creativity.

LiveSOUNDS

Click HERE for the 2018-19 Season Poster. The LiveSOUNDS series features free performances most Fridays throughout the school year and presents a cross-section of the diverse and creative community of Third Street faculty members. Performances take place at 7:00 p.m. in the school’s Anna-Maria Kellen Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. General seating is available on a first-come-basis. Free and open to the public. RSVP today!

Music in Abe Lebewohl Park

Third Street’s outdoor summer concert series feature a lineup of well-known local bands of diverse musical traditions - from Klezmer to Flamenco to Jazz, as well as Third Street summer chamber music workshop students. Concerts take place on most Thursdays in June and July at 12:30 in the Abe Lebewohl Park.  Presented in association with the Tenth & Stuyvesant Streets Block Association and St.Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery.
