BIOGRAPHY

Born and raised in Guinea, West Africa, Ibrahima Kolipe Camara started drumming, singing and dancing at an early age. At age 15 he was a member of Soliel d'Afrique and traveled with them to Belgium. At age 20 he became the principal lead drummer of the National dance group Les Ballets Africain, toured Canada, USA, Europe and the Caribbean multiple times and decided to settle in NYC in 2006. Ibrahima has been working with many groups including Drum Café and Kakande, recorded with many traditional artists from West Africa and is currently the musical director of Feraba-African Rhythm Tap Company. Ibrahima loves teaching and sharing his passion for traditional music. He has been a teaching artist since 2007.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE

Toured four times the world with the national Ballet from Guinea: Les Ballets Africains, toured with Grammy award winning Mamadou Diabate, Drum Café, New York Knick Streat Beatz (commissioned by Madison Square Garden and the New York Knicks).
