BIOGRAPHY

Oboist Christa Robinson, moved to NYC from Saskatchewan, Canada, where she performed as Principal Oboe with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. She now lives in Brooklyn, NY and performs regularly with the Canadian Chamber Orchestra of NYC, Con Vivo, and the Double Entendre Music Ensemble. An avid freelancer, Christa has performed with the Harrisburg Symphony, the Westchester Philharmonic, the Long Island Philharmonic, and the Heidelberg Festival Orchestra. Passionate about new music, Christa has performed with Sequitur, Argento, Alarm Will Sound, the S.E.M Orchestra, Red Light New Music, and Signal. Christa has recorded with a variety of artists including Of Montreal, Kevin Keller, Jonsi, and the legendary Anthony Braxton.

In addition to performing, Christa teaches oboe lessons at the Third Street Music School Settlement and teaches classroom music for the NYC Department of Education. In the summer, Christa is on faculty at the Performing Arts Institute in Kingston, PA. When away from the stage or the classroom, Christa can be found in the pottery studio covered from head to toe in clay.

EDUCATION

Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Education from The Eastman School of Music. Majored in oboe performance, instrumental music education and general music education.
