Creative Ability Development is a pedagogical approach designed to work alongside all learning approaches and methods as a tool to help teachers unleash the hidden, untapped musicality in students - regardless of their age, level or instrument.
Third Street Music School Settlement is hosting a two-day teacher workshop on Creative Ability Development that is open to all teachers of all instruments.
During the workshop, you will gain insight on the philosophy and pedagogy of CAD, an introduction to Early Childhood CAD, the opportunity to observe the approach in action, participate in performance workshops, and more!
CAD was created by Alice Kanack, a former Third Street faculty member. The premise of the approach is that all children are born with creative ability and that innate creative ability can be developed through the disciplined practice of creative exercises which allow the child complete freedom of choice. Great creative ability is the art of making choices.
Though this approach was designed around the Suzuki Approach it can be used with any teaching method. For those who are Suzuki trained, or who are working on Suzuki teacher training, this workshop qualifies for Suzuki Enrichment credit.
